Why Cam Lock Construction

The Walk-In That
Grows With Your Business

Traditional built-in-place cold rooms are permanent โ€” outgrow one and you're demolishing it. Cam lock panels lock together with a quarter-turn of a hex wrench, pulling each joint into a compressed, airtight seal. The result is a freezer that installs in days, runs cheaper, and unbolts cleanly when you need to expand, reconfigure, or move.

Fast, Clean Installation

Panels lock together without specialized tools or wet trades โ€” most walk-ins are assembled and running in days, with minimal disruption to your operation.

Airtight = Lower Hydro

Each cam lock pulls panels into compression against the gasket, eliminating the air leaks that make refrigeration run overtime. Tight seal, stable temps, smaller bills.

Expand, Reconfigure, Relocate

Need more capacity next year? Add panel sections. Moving facilities? Unbolt the room and take it with you. Modular construction protects the investment.

Built to Take Abuse

High-density insulated cores with corrosion-resistant metal skins stand up to washdowns, cart strikes, and the daily grind of commercial kitchens and warehouses.

How It Works

What Makes a Panel
Cam Lock?

Each insulated panel has steel cam fasteners embedded along its edges. During assembly, a hex wrench turns the cam through an access port โ€” the hook arm reaches into the adjacent panel, grabs a locking pin, and draws the two panels together under compression.

That compression is the whole point. The tongue-and-groove joint closes over a foamed-in-place gasket, creating a continuous vapour-tight seal around the entire room โ€” floor, walls, and ceiling. No exposed fasteners inside, no thermal bridges, no gaps that ice up over time.

And because every joint is mechanical rather than glued or built in place, the room is fully demountable. That's the difference between cold storage you commit to and cold storage you control.

01

Panels Align

Tongue-and-groove edges self-align as each insulated panel is set in place โ€” walls, ceiling, and insulated floor sections.

02

Cams Engage

A quarter-turn of the hex wrench swings the cam hook into the adjacent panel's locking pin.

03

Joint Compresses

The cam draws the panels tight, compressing the gasket into an airtight, vapour-sealed joint.

04

Room Seals as a System

Every joint repeats the same seal โ€” the finished room holds temperature with minimal refrigeration runtime.

Cam Lock Builds in the Field

Installed Across Toronto & the GTA

USE CASE 01

Restaurants & Kitchens

Walk-in freezers assembled inside existing buildings โ€” panels move through standard doorways and lock together on site.

USE CASE 02

Food Processing & Distribution

Expandable freezer and cooler rooms that scale with volume โ€” add sections instead of rebuilding when throughput grows.

USE CASE 03

Pharmaceutical Storage

Consistent, tightly sealed environments for temperature-sensitive product, with panels rated for demanding sanitation regimes.

USE CASE 04

Growing & Relocating Businesses

Leaseholders and scaling operations keep their cold storage as an asset โ€” disassemble, move, and reassemble at the new site.

Common Questions

Cam Lock Walk-In Freezer FAQ

What is a cam lock panel?
A cam lock panel is an insulated wall, ceiling, or floor panel with steel cam fasteners built into its edges. A quarter-turn of a hex wrench draws adjacent panels together under compression, sealing a gasketed tongue-and-groove joint. Rooms built from cam lock panels assemble quickly, seal airtight, and can be taken apart and reassembled without damaging the panels.
Is a cam lock walk-in as good as a built-in-place cold room?
For most commercial applications it's better. The compressed gasket joints seal as tight or tighter than built-in-place construction, installation takes days instead of weeks, and you keep the option to expand or relocate later. Built-in-place still has a role in unusual geometries, but for standard commercial walk-ins, cam lock is the modern standard.
Can I expand my walk-in freezer later?
Yes โ€” that's one of the main reasons to choose cam lock construction. We unbolt a wall, add matching panel sections, and reseal the room, typically with refrigeration upgraded to match the new volume. The same applies in reverse if you ever need to downsize the footprint.
Can a cam lock walk-in be moved to a new location?
Yes. Because every joint is mechanical, the room disassembles into its original panels and reassembles at the new site. Titan handles the full relocation โ€” disassembly, transport, reassembly, and refrigeration recommissioning โ€” across Toronto, the GTA, and Southern Ontario.
How long does installation take?
Most standard walk-in freezers are assembled and holding temperature within a few days of panels arriving on site. Because assembly is tool-free and dry (no concrete, no curing), we can often work around your operating hours so the kitchen or warehouse keeps running.
How much does a cam lock walk-in freezer cost?
It depends on dimensions, freezer versus cooler temperature range, floor type, door configuration, and refrigeration. We quote each build individually after a site visit, and the quote is fixed and free โ€” call (416) 896-7153 or request one online.
